Musical Interests

Music is my hobby. I am interested in early music (renaissance music), classical music, contemporary music, and everything that I deem to be good. I also actively make music.

Orchestras

One of my heaviest influences in orchestral music is the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. I still like this kind of style and try to achieve similar quality in sound and transparency, when playing in an orchestra.

My activities take place in the Alumni Symphony Orchestra and the Academic Chamber Orchestra, where I am am member. Further I like to help out as a substitute in other orchestras like the Nota Bene or the SMOMS as well.

Instruments

Since my musical interests are widespread, I also play several instruments. I play early music on the cornetto (made by all'antica) and alternate with the recorder. My main istrument though is the trumpet (and cornet) with excellent specimen made by BlechIN and easily played ones by Yamaha, Scherzer, and Adams. Further, I play the guitar, ukulele, and the viola.

Music Notation

Musical notation is complex like mathematical notation. Thus dedicated software is used for that. Most commen are WYSIWYG-editors like MuseScore, but I prefer a text based approach and leave engraving to the system. Lilypond is my system of choice with Frescobaldi as editor.

For simple engraving tasks ABC is also suitable and widely used in folk music. Programs like abcm2ps with EasyABC and ressources like ABC Plus make life easier.
